She and her husband, Jan, have given workshops on "Managing Grief at the Workplace" at various labor/management conferences in the United States, Canada and Australia. They have co-written an article entitled "Managing Workplace GriefVision and Necessity." The article appeared in the Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Law Journal. As the former senior editor of Workforce magazine (www.workforce.com), Ms. Sunoo has written award-winning articles about human resources management. In 1997, she received a Maggie Award recognition in the Public Service category for an article entitled "Facing Grief at the WorkplaceHow and Why To Help Your Employees Heal." Her articles have appeared in the Modesto Bee, The Argus, The Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, Rice Magazine, Korea Times English Edition, A. Magazine, Vault.com and Expatspouse.com. She has also written an ecumenical-sponsored booklet entitled "Beyond the Crucible: Responses to Anti-Asian Hatred." After the sudden death of her 16-year-old son, Tommy, in 1994, she joined and co-facilitated the Orange Coast, California chapter of The Compassionate Friendsan international nonprofit organization for bereaved parents. She is currently an online grief counselor with www.sharegrief.com. An alumna of University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Sunoo majored in sociology and obtained her California teaching credential in elementary education. She also received her MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University in Los Angeles.
